Professor Jian graduated from Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University in 1990 and worked in the Department of Neurosurgery of Beijing Hospital in the same year. He served successively as resident, attending physician, and deputy chief physician physician of neurosurgery in Beijing Hospital.

Professor Liu has been devoted to the study and treatment of Syringomyelia, Chiari malformation and CVJ spine and spinal cord diseases since 2001. He worked on customized 3D printing fusion hardware devices and performed the first 3D-printing tailored titanium plate lock fixation via transoral approach.
